We begin to explore the depth of this apparently simple commandment. We see the value that God places on life and how we are commanded to love ourselves, our families and our neighbors and seek their well-being. This translates into preserving life and defending life that is unjustly threatened.

We consider how important it is to meditate on the commandments and draw out principles from them before being changed by their truths and applying them in our lives.

The first principle we examine from this commandment is that we can resist those who threaten us unjustly when we are doing that which God has commanded us to do.
