There is a lot of confusion in this day and age concerning the love of God, what it is and how it applies to mankind.

We see that God has a special love for “His people,” whom He chose to save before the foundation of the world. This love moved Him to send Jesus to the cross in order to save them from the punishment they deserved because of their sin. When the Gospel is preached, He enables them to believe in the Lord Jesus for salvation.

In contrast, God loves those who will not believe in a different way. Because of His infinite goodness, He sustains them in life and gives them many good things, even while they continue in their hatred of Him and their pursuit of wickedness.

Since this is the situation as God reveals it in the Bible, we are all urged to make sure we believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and become recipients of the special, saving love of God for those who are His people.
