Having witnessed the ascension of Christ, we study the reaction of the disciples. We see:

• Their immediate obedience in returning to Jerusalem to wait for what had been promised.
• What they did in Jerusalem while they waited - devoting themselves to prayer.

We also consider some of the interesting points of detail that Luke, the beloved physician, inserts into this account.

We are all challenged to take up the persistent, united prayer we have modeled for us in this passage as we seek to serve the Lord in His church.
