Having seen that the Lord wants us to keep the Sabbath holy, we now consider on which day we should observe it. We look at two things:

  • First, that the fourth commandment, in fact, doesn’t specify the day of observance.
  • Second, what is day the Lord shows us we are to observe as a Sabbath.

We see that under the New Covenant, in order to keep the fourth commandment we must observe the first day of the week as our Sabbath. It is to be for us a day of rest, of rejoicing and of gathering together with the God’s people of for worship.
