Following God’s leading to Macedonia, the missionaries come to Philippi and preach to a group of women gathered for prayer on the Sabbath. Lydia is saved, she and her household baptized and she constrains the messengers to stay at her house. We apply this passage to our circumstances in 3 ways:

  • We should not despise the day of small beginnings; the Lord may do great things from a seemingly unimportant start.
  • We should trust that the Lord will do His work and sovereignly bring His people to Himself.
  • We should expect to see fruit in the lives of those the Lord transforms in this way.
