Today we examine a problem which began in the Early Church and see how the Apostles reached a solution for it, along with its outcome in the church and society. The problem, that the Hellenistic Jewish widows were being overlooked in the daily food distribution, was solved by the creation of the office of Deacon by the apostles. The choosing of seven Spirit-filled individuals by the fellowship to fill this office resulted in further growth in the church. From this we can learn that if we do things in a godly way, His blessing goes with us and we should use our gifts to advance the kingdom.
