This morning we see how God gifted Stephen to exceed his mandate as a deacon and gave him power to teach the gospel. This naturally brought about opposition from the Jews, and so we see:

• The signs and wonders the Lord worked through Stephen
• The Spirit of Wisdom God gave him to defend himself against accusations
• The Testimony that God bore for Stephen before his accusers

We are encouraged not to fear the attacks of the world upon us as we spread the Word, for we know that the darkness hates the light and will try to extinguish it. Therefore let us be like Stephen, unafraid to teach the Word or to defend our teaching of it.
