We consider the account of Jesus in the home of Mary and Martha. One of the sisters was distraught with all the arrangements she was making to offer Him hospitality, while the other took the position of a student and sat at His feet as He spoke.
We apply this account to our lives today, in which the distractions all around us often seem to be justified in the name of Christian service but still only one thing is needful.
We must beware that these sources of distraction are under control and that we are still able to set aside the time to hear the words of Christ, seeking first His kingdom and being anxious for nothing.
