We consider another excuse people sometimes use for not coming to Christ for salvation: “I won’t come, because I can’t.” People who say this have often been exposed to the Biblical teachings that God is sovereign over all things, including the salvation of those whom He chooses, and that because of sin people are incapable of coming to Christ. Thus they excuse themselves and put the blame on God that they have not become Christians.

We see tonight that God is not to blame for the sin that keeps us from Him (we are), and that He has every right to command us to come to Him for salvation. We also see that we are able to seek after Him for salvation and it can hardly be God’s fault if we do not do this.

There is no good excuse for disobeying any of the commandments of God and therefore there is no good excuse for remaining in rebellion against Him when He offers salvation in Christ and commands all to repent of their sins and to trust Jesus to be saved.
