Continuing to show His disciples why they need not fear man, Jesus seeks to bring a right perspective to their thinking.

He tells them, and us, that we should not fear men, who can do us relatively little harm. The worst that men can do to us is to kill our bodies but after that they can do no more. Rather, we should fear God, who has the authority to destroy both the body ‘’%%(text-decoration:underline)and%%’’ the soul in hell forever.

We spend some time examining this idea of the fear of God, seeing what it is and how so many churches in this day and age have stripped God of all His characteristics which should cause men to fear Him, ending up with a God other than the one of the Scriptures.

We are all encouraged to get our perspective right in these matters so we may not be crippled by fear of man and so rendered unable to serve God.
