Paul, Silas and Timothy move on from Thessolonica and come to Berea. We see the familiar pattern repeated - the persistence and perseverance of the missionaries despite affliction and persecution, the good reception of some and the hatred and opposition of others. We draw out applications from each of these points. We are particularly struck by the use the Bereans made of the Scriptures to be the touchstone against which to judge Paul’s words and we are encouraged ourselves to have the Scriptures as the final authority in our lives for faith and practice.
