In the letter to the Colossians Paul addresses the teachings that have recently arisen. These teachings appeal to human based wisdom and self-righteousness. They attempt to gain attention by advocating visions and rituals. We realize that the same temptations to worldliness are at work in the church today. Thus, in today’s sermon we examine three points from Paul’s teaching that were designed to protect the Colossians from these errors. The first, that Christ is your life. The second, why would we live in the world if we have died with Christ? The last is an admonishment to seek after heavenly things.
