The Exodus appears to be the time at which God confined the true religion to the nation of Israel - as we see, up to this time there were true worshipers of God outside of the nation - for example, Melchizedek, Jethro the father-in-law of Moses, together with Job and the four men who attempted to counsel him.

We ask the question, why did God do this, deliberately keeping other nations in darkness while confining the light the nation of Israel? We see that He did this to prepare the world for the coming of His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ.
