The theme of persecution continues as Christ teaches his apostles about the trials they would face for the sake of His name. Here, we see that it can be right to flee from persecution and we see the encouragement Christ gave for the apostles to persevere in work. We consider the following questions:

  • What do we understand from the fact that Jesus instructs the apostles to flee from persecution?
  • When would it be right to flee from persecution?
  • When would it not be right?
  • How can we know God’s will for us in this regard?
  • What did Jesus mean when He said the apostles would not finish going through the cities of Israel before He came?

In each of these cases, the principles of Jesus’ teaching are outlined and applied to us in our situation today.
