The Apostles appear on trial before the Council and their trial progresses. We see:
- Two things the Lord used to subdue the wickedness of the Council - the confidence of Peter and John and the undeniable miracle they had performed.
- That nevertheless the Council responded wickedly in the light of these things.
- Peter and John’s Godly defense - refusing to submit to the Council’s command not to teach any longer in the name of Jesus.
- The release of the Apostles due to the Council’s fear of the people, who were glorifying God for the miracle they had seen.
We again apply these events to ourselves and to our own efforts in evangelism, seeking to draw encouragement from the account to be more bold in our endeavors for the Lord.
