Peter and John are commanded not to teach any longer in the name of Jesus but they refuse. Returning to the disciples, they pray that they may speak the Word of God with boldness. The place is shaken, they are filled with the Holy Spirit and enabled to do that very thing.

What can we do personally to promote revival in the light of this account? We can pray that the Lord would send His Spirit to revive us, so that we might be able to speak His Word boldly and in this way advance the kingdom. We can also pray that He would revive our congregations, awaken the lost and glorify His Name.

If we would see revival, we need to stop doing those things that weaken the Spirit’s work in our lives, and do those things that strengthen His influence.
