When people suppress the knowledge of God in unrighteousness, one way God reveals His wrath against them is by giving them over to their lusts. They sink further and further into sin for which they will have to give an account on the Last Day.

Paul specifically deals here with the sexual lusts and impurity which emerge when God pours out His wrath in this way. We see how this passage is a commentary on contemporary society and having considered the temptations which we confront every day in a world which is driven by these things, we look at the help which God gives so that the believer may be able to stand up under these circumstances.
