We do not often consider it, but God sent His Son to trouble our souls about their condition, to awaken us, so that we might be saved. In fact it is true to say that wherever Jesus comes into a sinful world, He will cause trouble because of His righteousness and holiness. In this message (based on a sermon originally preached by Horatius Bonar) we look at two things:

  • First, that Christ’s coming troubled Jerusalem.
  • Second, why Jerusalem was troubled.

We understand from this that the troubling of Christ is actually a good thing, done in love in order to turn us to Himself and away from our sins. We all need this troubling when we first come to Christ, but we continue to need it as long as we live here to help us grow in holiness.
