This evening, we consider one more argument that works provide the best evidence that one is converted, namely that works are the outcome of every grace the Spirit produces in our hearts. We consider that works must produce holy fruit if conversion is genuine. We see two things:

  • First, that though there are other evidences of grace we can use to examine our lives, works are the best.
  • And second, that works are the best evidence because they show that all the other evidences are genuine.

We are challenged to examine ourselves to see if we have the fruits of the Spirit manifesting themselves through works in our lives. Works will not and cannot save us, but they are the strongest evidence that we are truly saved.
