The Lord used Moses to begin changes with regard to the ceremonial worship, then He used David – the greater type of Christ – to further modify the provisions concerning temple service. When Messiah came, as the One whom Moses and David foreshadowed, He fulfilled the ceremonial law and abolished it entirely. The physical temple was done away with and only the spiritual temple now remains, of which all true believers form a part. We consider two things:

  • First that the Lord used David to change certain aspects of the Old Testament worship.
  • And second, that He did this as a picture of what Jesus would do in the New Covenant.

We are challenged to make sure that we are part of this temple not built with hands – that we are true children of God who have escaped the wrath to come.
