Having reviewed the teaching of Solomon Stoddard and John Flavel on this subject, we begin a review of Thomas Shepard and his insights, since he also influenced Jonathan Edwards.

We consider the life and works of Shepard, together with his character. He was a particularly humble man, profoundly aware of his own sinfulness but therefore all the more grateful for the Savior from sin that God provided in Jesus.

We will go on in future weeks to consider Shepard’s teaching on the marks of grace.
