We consider Ruth’s kinsman-redeemer, Boaz: the close relative who would marry her and redeem the property that had belonged to her family. We see that to approach her redeemer, Ruth:

  • Submitted to the law
  • prepared herself
  • humbled herself, and
  • asked to come under his protection

In the same way, Christ became our kinsman in order to become our redeemer. We must approach Him in the same way that Ruth approached Boaz so that He will become our Husband and return the inheritance that our sins have lost.
