We move into the second great period in the History of Redemption, from the incarnation of Christ to the resurrection. It was during this time of Christ’s humiliation that He would pay for our redemption.

This morning, we see three things:

  1. Why Christ needed to become a man to purchase our redemption,
  2. How Christ became a man to purchase our redemption, and
  3. Why Christ became a man when He did to purchase our redemption.

From the time Christ was conceived until the morning He rose again from the dead, He began to secure the redemption of His people. Nothing was paid towards it before or after this, and we are reminded that now that the payment has been made, nothing needs to be done for the rest of eternity. In the light of these things, it is also stressed that there is only one way of salvation (through Christ alone), and that this is received by faith alone.
