We begin a series in this glorious chapter of God’s Word by considering the centrality and importance of love in the Christian life.

We consider how many divisions there are in Christ’s church today. Of course, there were problems in the New Testament church too and this is why many of the epistles were written. Since then, we have been growing in our understanding of what the Bible says on various topics and this has opened the way for more and more divisions.

It is the love which all true believers have through their union with Christ which should enable us to bear and forebear with one another in the church. Love is the fulfillment of the law and is closely akin to holiness. This same love is meant to be the hallmark of God’s true people.

We are exhorted to put on the love of God and to demonstrate this love in all our dealings with our brothers and sisters in Christ.
