We have previously seen the way that the Lord’s ministry on earth brought about a separation - some received Him and were softened by His teaching, whereas others were hardened even to the point of committing the unpardonable sin. This week we go on to look at the need for the Lord’s people to follow Him by being involved in the work of ministering the Gospel whether publicly or privately. We see that the kind of ministry needed is twofold:

  • A ministry of the Word through preaching and teaching - we see the difference between them and that both were parts of Christ’s ministry
  • A ministry of compassion which feels for the needs of those ministered to and seeks to meet them. We see the remarkable heart of compassion that Jesus has.

We are all encouraged to play our part, whatever it may be, in ministering the Gospel both inside the church and outside of it, becoming imitators of our Lord.
