When we see what is going on in the world today, are we encouraged, or are we discouraged by all the sin and corruption we see? Should we be discouraged? We focus on the parable of the Mustard Seed to show us that even though the beginnings of God’s kingdom were small, it will grow until it fills the whole earth. We see that as the Lord advances His kingdom, this will make a real difference in the world. We are also reminded that the growth of the kingdom is not automatic - just as plants need to be tended, so all believers have work to do to make it grow. This calls us to know our gifts, to look to the Lord for the strength to use them, and to do all in our power to advance His kingdom, at the same praying that He would raise up and use all of His people.
