We look from another perspective at this great chapter and emphasize the supremacy of love over everything else in the Christian walk.
The possession of great gifts or great knowledge are nothing unless they are accompanied with this love, which is the working of the Holy Spirit in the life of every true child of God.
This love is commanded of the believer - it is not something that is outside of our control or our ability to perform. This love is exemplified in Christ dying on the cross and in the unconditional love of God for unlovely and unworthy sinners.
At the beginning of the New Year, we are challenged to manifest this love for one another increasingly.
