Having removed obstacles from the spread of the Gospel, God opens the way for Paul and Barnabas to enter Cyprus and preach the Word. We consider:

  • The arrival of Paul and Barnabas at Salamis and their preaching the Gospel to the Jews there
  • Their arrival at Paphos and the open spiritual warfare that ensues there

We see the courage of these few men God sent to be ambassadors for the Gospel and recognize that this was given to them by the Holy Spirit. We are urged to seek God that we too may take our stand for the Gospel in this day and age. We also examine the account of John Mark’s desertion and see that this warfare is not an easy thing. Nevertheless, we are reminded that through God’s grace, John Mark repents and plays a very useful part in God’s kingdom. Even if we have been beaten back in the warfare, God does not write us off but can restore us and do great things through us.

The most important thing, of course, is to make sure that we are on the right side in this conflict!
