Tonight we look into Samson’s backsliding. Samson had been an experienced leader of Israel for 20 years, but even the most experienced Christian can backslide. But Samson learned that he had far too much self-confidence. God was very patient with Samson, and gave him ample time to repent but Samson was content to play with sin. The apostle Peter had a similar self-confidence when he said that he would never leave Jesus, even if it meant death. The result of Samson’s backsliding was utter defeat and capture by the Philistines. Yet, God’s grace is such that even for the worst of backsliders, forgiveness is ready and available.
