As the Lord continues to unfold the third stage in His plan of redemption, the church grows to the point where a specific appointment becomes necessary to take care of certain needs within the congregation. We consider three things:

  • That Christ established Deacons very early on in the church
  • Why He gave Deacons to His church, and
  • Why we should all be striving to follow the example of the Deacon.

We are all encouraged to be servants (deacons) in the church, following the example our Savior gave us. To do this, we are shown that we have to be filled with the Spirit since He alone can give us the heart of a servant. Therefore unbelievers are urged to come to Christ so that they may then become servants - and believers are encouraged to identify the gifts they have been given and to use them in serving the Lord for the good of the church and the glory of His name.
