Abraham faces the death of his wife of many years. We consider the fact of our death - that we must all face the death of loved ones in this world and ultimately face death for ourselves. We see how the hope of a believer is a great comfort both for the dying and the bereaved. The world grieves as having no hope but the believer knows that there will be a reunion in heaven with believing loved ones who have gone before.

We see Abraham determined to buy a piece of land in the land of promise and to bury his wife separate from the pagans around. We explore the significance of his actions and how they can apply to us as we prepare to face the last enemy.
