Judah is returning from exile in Babylon. Here, Joshua the High Priest is to be crowned and then the crown is to be placed in the Temple as a memorial of the one who will build it.

We see how all this points to the Lord Jesus Christ, the Branch from the Tribe of Judah, who would be King and Priest and would build the true spiritual temple of which the earthly one was merely a picture. We also see how, as King and Priest, Jesus established peace between God and His people.

We rejoice in the fact that this Jesus is still our King and Priest, ever living to intercede for us, touched with an understanding of our infirmities and yet a mighty Conqueror to defeat all His and our foes and bring us safely to heaven if we are His people.
