What is Christian fellowship? Is it just a group of professing Christians gathering together for any purpose at all, like watching a football game? Or is fellowship something deeper and more spiritual than this? Since fellowship, or communion, is something we’re called to by the Lord, we take this opportunity to understand what it is and how it works. We consider four things:

  • First, that the essence of the communion, or fellowship, of saints is love.
  • Second, some of the different ways we are to express that love toward one another.
  • Third, what we must be like in order to do this effectively.
  • Finally, that we are commanded by the Lord to desire this communion.

Next to communion with God through the Lord Jesus Christ, there is nothing that will bring us more joy and blessedness than the communion of the saints - so we are urged to make the most of every opportunity to experience it.
