Stephen continues to build on his argument by using the story of Joseph as an analogy to Christ’s coming to Israel and being rejected despite being their Savior.

Joseph’s brothers hated him and sold him into slavery, yet had to come to him in Egypt for food. Many Jews were leaving the symbolism of the Jewish religion for its fulfillment in Christ, and Stephen tries to convince the Jewish council that this is what they also must do, rather than repeating the mistakes of their forefathers in rejecting, and even killing, God’s prophets.

We are encouraged to spread the Gospel to everyone we know as well, to save them from dying in sin.
