We survey the redemption of God’s people from Egypt and see how it is a picture to us of the redemption of true believers from bondage to sin and Satan. In particular, we see:

  • That Christ, the Son of God, is present to redeem His people - revealing Himself in the burning bush, in judgments on Egypt’s gods, in the pillar of cloud and fire and in other ways too. In addition, Moses is a type of Christ, resembling Him, but inferior to Him, in many ways.
  • The Lord was doing something new at this time to promote His work of redemption

We apply this account to our own situation, seeing that there is and has only ever been one way of salvation and that this is in and through Christ. Consequently, we are all challenged to make sure that we have availed ourselves of the salvation prepared by God in the Lord Jesus.
