This week we begin to look at Chapter 2 in detail. We see how God had been merciful to the Jews, and to all men, and had given them time to repent. Instead of using this time to turn from their sins, the Jews were spending it in sin and increasing God’s wrath against them.

At this point we take a close look at the idea of degrees of punishment and reward. We see in the passage that it will be worse for some people than it will be for others on the day of judgment and that God will ‘render to each one according to his deeds’. We also look at other passages which teach the same thing.

We are encouraged to use our time in the way that God intends us to use it - in ‘patient continuance in doing good’.
