Paul brings us the glorious Gospel of Christ and shows us how he is delivered from the dilemma he was in at the end of chapter 7. He has been set free from the flesh through the death of Christ. In Christ, the righteous requirements of the law are fully met in believers so that they are not counted any longer as Law-breakers. Instead, the believer lives by the law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus.

This pattern of increasing hatred for sin and love of righteousness is found in every true believer and is an indication that he or she has also been justified in Christ, since justification and sanctification always go together.

As believers, we are encouraged not to take our deliverance for granted but to rejoice in what was purchased for us by the Lord Jesus Christ on the cross.
