We see these two pre-Reformation movements and their influence on the Reformers. We also realize that the principles underlying each of them are still active in the church today. Some are intellectual and academic in their approach to Christianity; others are entirely motivated by feelings and doctrine is less important for them. The balanced position is one in which we experience a relationship with God but are always guided by the Truth of Scripture. The opening 15 minutes of this lecture have reduced sound quality due to a technical problem, for which we apologize.
