We look at what it means not to rejoice in unrighteousness but to rejoice with the Truth. This is the very essence of holiness and we see how this is the constant emphasis in Scripture concerning the manner of life that should characterize God’s people. Holiness is not something that should be seen as austere and forbidding, but lovely, beautiful and desirable.

We see that virtually all the traits that the grace of God produces in the believer in salvation tend towards holiness - this is indeed what God wants us to be in Christ. We also discover that the Law of God itself should be attractive to us and that to keep the law and reject sin should be the earnest desire of every true child of God.

Finally, we apply these truths as a test to our hearts to determine whether we are really believers or not and we are encouraged to press on towards greater Christ-likeness, which is true holiness.
