We come to the concluding exhortations of this letter and note that the most important one has been placed first - that we should love our brethren in Christ.

We examine Christian love in detail, looking at what it is and where it comes from and seeing how frequently it is commanded for the believer. It is a key test of whether we are in Christ or not - it is a fruit of the Holy Spirit given to every true child of God. It shows itself and is commended in many of the churches in New Testament times.

So what does it mean if we don’t see this love in others who claim to be Christ’s? We look at possible explanations.

We are encouraged to love all our brothers and sisters in Christ more and more deeply and are reminded that this love will show itself in practical ways and not just in words.
