Relatively few years after the flood, the world has apparently forgotten the judgment of the flood and God’s mercy to Noah’s family. It has set itself up in opposition to God and His will and may even have begun to worship other gods. Once again, God acts to preserve His Church and further His purposes. We see:

  • God stopped the building at Babel to preserve His church
  • God divided the nations, situating the people with a view to the future spread of the Gospel
  • God preserved the godly line through which He sent His son into the world

We are urged to be encouraged and to trust both in God’s determination to preserve His people and in the fact that He will use our efforts to spread the Gospel message to the ends of the earth.
