We come to the climax of the Gospel account and to Christ’s suffering and death on the cross. We trace the events and at each point we are brought face to face with these facts:

  • That everything Christ did and suffered was on behalf of His people
  • That He did it out of His great love for them and with His eye on them as His reward
  • That He did it in obedience to His Father
  • That all these events were remarkably foretold in the prophets of the Old Testament

Since Christ went through so much for His people, we are challenged to press on to new heights in our love and service to Him. Unbelievers are confronted with the sufferings they must endure if they will not repent and trust the finished work of Christ as the only ground for their salvation.
