Having seen that the human heart cannot be satisfied with the things of this world but only in the Lord, we now reflect on how we may do this from a practical standpoint. David tells us that our satisfaction will come as we walk with the Lord. In particular, from this passage, we see that this consists in:

  • trusting in the Lord
  • doing good and cultivating faithfulness
  • delighting ourselves in Him
  • committing our ways to the Lord
  • resting and waiting patiently for Him
  • not fretting, but ceasing from anger and forsaking wrath

In a world that is so mistaken about the true source of satisfaction, we are all encouraged to take David’s instruction to heart and walk with the Lord.
