We see that believers, when faced with opposition, look to the Lord for His help, remind ourselves of His past mercies to renew our hope of mercy in the present, resolve to obey Him no matter how many turn against us, and, in a sense, will despise unbelievers for their disobedience. That disobedience will provoke us to love God’s Law more and our desire to keep it. The unbeliever doesn’t want to know what God commands, and so won’t receive His help.
