We meditate anew on the matchless condescension of our God - that as God, our Savior stooped to take human flesh. That He came, not as a rich and famous or attractive man, but as a very poor man in very humble circumstances. That He endured in His pure and sinless soul the sinfulness around Him while He dwelt on earth. That He humbled Himself yet further by washing His disciples’ feet and finally by going to His death on the cross to pay the debt His people owed to the justice of God.
Here we see an example to imitate. The path to greatness in the sight of God lies in becoming the servant of all. We marvel at this Savior and this Lord who did so much for such sinners as us!
