We consider the conquest of Canaan by Israel and see that God raises up a leader of His people (Joshua) to defeat His enemies in Canaan - a person raised up to give the people of God rest in the land. We see:

  • That Joshua is a picture of Christ.
  • That Joshua’s battle against the Canaanites is a picture of Christ’s battle with the kingdom of darkness
  • That Joshua’s conquering Canaan is a picture of Jesus’ conquering death and bringing believers to settle in Heaven. We are challenged to trust in the Lord Jesus Christ and in Him alone as well as to repent of every sin, as this is the only way to inherit the kingdom of Heaven.
