We derive several useful applications from the teaching of these verses. First, that those who teach that the whole, physical nation of Israel will be saved at some point in time are teaching something that is not found in Scripture and is contrary to Paul’s teaching here. Second, that those who teach that the children of believing parents either are saved or infallibly will be saved one day are also teaching something that is contradicted by Paul here.
The only way to be saved is to believe on Christ. Even though those who do believe are those whom God has chosen, that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t evangelize. Neither does it give the unbeliever an excuse not to come to God - but rather it gives the assurance that if they do they will be saved.
