The sovereign power of God is in view once again as we see the way He prepared to save His chosen people (through whom Messiah would come) from a terrible famine. He does this through the favoritism of Jacob toward Joseph and the prophetic dreams Joseph had, both of which caused his brothers to hate him. God also used the wickedness of the brothers in selling Joseph into slavery in Egypt.

We trace the strong parallels between the life of Joseph and that of Christ and marvel again at the handiwork of our God, working all things together for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose.
