As we continue our study in the gospel of Mark, we examine the idea of becoming fishers of men.

We consider two things:

  • First, the calling of the first four apostles, and
  • Second, what that call was He placed on their lives.

We are challenged to go where the fish are: we can’t expect them to come to us; to go at the right time of day: there are spiritual seasons where the fish are more likely to bite; to use the right kind of bait: the threat of judgment, the promise of heaven, the love of Christ, all things to all men; and to be patient: there is a time of preparation that comes before conversion - we need to allow the Lord time to do His work and not get disappointed if they don’t come right away.
