The writer to the Hebrews shows us the nature of Biblical faith. We understand that it is through faith that we become believers but we see here that there is more to it. Faith also is the means by which the invisible, spiritual realities of which the Bible speaks become more real to us as believers. Since the means of grace are given to strengthen us in our faith, it follows that as we seek God through these means, God, the Lord Jesus and Heaven itself will seem more real to us. Conversely, when we depart from the Lord in backsliding, our sin quenches and grieves God’s Spirit and the invisible realities of our faith grow dimmer in our perception.
